Page 1 of 2 In part one we learned what all the commands are. Now let’s try a few out!
OPENING A BET ANGEL TEMPLATE SPREADSHEET
-
First of all, open Bet Angel Professional and click on the 'Excel' tab.
-
Click on 'Browse' and select the template file supplied with Bet Angel (BetAngel_1.xls at the time of writing). Double click or click on 'Open'.
-
Now click on 'Open Workbook'.
Bet Angel will now load the file and open Microsoft Excel. If you do not have Microsoft Excel then at this point it might begin to dawn on you that you will need to invest in even more software in order to make use of this feature!
-
Once the spreadsheet is opened, go back to Bet Angel, click on Connect. Make sure that the origin cell is set to A1.
-
Now ensure that a market is selected within Bet Angel.
-
Switch over to Excel. You should now be looking at the chosen market!
I'm going to use the horse race we saw in the previous article. If you want to join in then use whichever selection takes your fancy in the market you have chosen.
If you go back to Bet Angel and now click on 'Disconnect' you will notice that the data fed over to Excel remains. However, any commands we enter when disconnected will not fire into Bet Angel. But this is useful for trying things out.
I want to BACK the runner ‘DESERT LOVER’ with an offset of two ticks and a stake of £5. I also, want Bet Angel to ensure that the priority order is filled otherwise cancel the whole thing and to wait 4 seconds to see if the priority order is filled before killing. I also want a stop loss of 4 ticks.
I need to enter the following command:
BACK OFFSET:2 FILL_KILL: TRUE KILL_DELAY:4
I enter this into the command area for this selection – in this case CELL J6

OK, so nothing has happened?
Bet Angel Professional is now waiting for our stake and odds request to be entered. Until these are completed nothing will happen.
You will notice that as soon as the odds and stake cells were completed, that BaP fired the order into the market. The status changed to ‘PLACED’.
An important point here is that if we now delete the word ‘PLACED’ from the status cell then Bet Angel Professional will fire another order into the market. This cell is used by Bet Angel as a flag and once cleared Bet Angel will resume monitoring for orders again. Something to beware of if you clear cells in a certain order.
You can also see underneath the report from Bet Angel:
‘£ 5.0 Back bet placed on Desert Lover at 3.75. Fully matched at 3.75’
So we know that the priority back bet was successful and there is no need for the FILL or KILL function to operate in this instance. If the price of 3.75 was not available, BaP would have waited 4 seconds before canceling the entire order.
