This is tremendously popular software, and as I downloaded the latest offering from bettingprofitsoftware – BetIE v2.5 I was looking forward to getting my hands dirty! Installation was straightforward and took less than a minute. Once installed, a simple login to Betfair is all that is required to get going.

As always, I want to see what this looks like ‘out of the box’. I always like to look at the ‘OOBE’ or ‘Out Of Box Experience’ that a new user would have. And the screen that greeted me looked organised and straight forward enough . On the left hand side could be seen 12 buttons with various trading techniques etched upon them – such as ‘Trading’, ‘Dutch Back’ and ‘Dutch Lay’, ‘Trigger’, ‘Stoploss’ and more. Underneath here the various markets could be seen. On the right was a ‘My Bets’ section. All good so far. Then I discovered a real winning feature of BetIE.

The Learning Mode.

The learning mode is, quite simply, fantastic. With all the experience in the world, learning a new piece of software is always time consuming and not to say, potentially costly when talking about trading software. So I was highly pleased with the learning mode and immediately clicked on all the functions and features that I could find just to see what would happen! And like a charm, BetIE recorded the learning trades as if they had been live trades and I could see within seconds that random pushing of buttons would be an expensive hobby!

All the popular tools are included and after a little time using the ‘Learning’ mode, it was straight forward to see how to use these. Helpfully, there is an Illustrated Guide just a couple of clicks away that shows how to use the various features. Including a couple of ‘Coming soon’ sections including ‘Getting Out Of Trouble’ and some videos. I am a big fan of tutorial videos and look forward to viewing these – it would have saved me some time in getting to know the software.

Placing bets is quite easy on the main market screen – two clicks are required: one to select the price at you wish to place the bet and second to confirm the stake. One click betting is possible on the trader ladder screen The market refresh rate is adjustable with the fastest rate being 1 second. For faster refresh rates consider their ‘Trader’ package.

Ratings System

One great feature that is included for Bet-IE clients is the ratings system - provided at no extra cost for subscribers. Each morning, the team at Bet-IE study the racing ahead for the day and publish their own unique ratings for each runner in each race. The idea here is that by using this, it is easier to identify dutching or bookmaking opportunities for each race. In addition, you could use it to identify value back or lay opportunities. Although, I have not had enough time to tell you if the system works over time, the past results page on the Bet-IE site shows some promising figures. The cost of this software is only a one off payment of £97. No monthly subscriptions or yearly renewals. This differs greatly to the pricing structures of other pieces of software that require you to pay by the month or even minute! Great value.

In conclusion, a great set of tools for the betting exchange user to get to grips with. The user interface does have a bit of an unfinished look about it but who cares about looks? As long as it works. However, the tools available make this software a real contender in the market place. At a great price!
